Civic groups representing the woman who filed a sexual harrassment complaint against Park right before his death called on authorities today to launch a proper probe into the case.

They said the victim mustered up the courage to step forward, hoping to seek justice.

In a statement read by an official of one of the civic groups, the victim said she "hopes to live in a world where she can lead a humane life" and recover from her experience.

"I wanted to cry out that I'm in pain. I wanted to forgive. I wanted to receive a humane apology and be judged by law in South Korea."

Kim Jae-ryun, the victim's lawyer, said the former secretary had shared photos and text messages she received from Park with her friends and colleagues, and requested to be sent to another post following the alleged abuse.

The lawyer added that an additional complaint has been filed with police on "secondary damages" that have been inflicted on the victim following Mayor Park's death, stressing that report circulating on the internet is not the one they submitted to the police.

The press conference was held soon after a funeral for Park was held at City Hall.

Only around 100 people were allowed to attend in person, including the late mayor's family, senior city officials and representatives from political parties and civic groups.

Seoul's acting mayor Seo Jeong-hyup delivered a eulogy, vowing to carry out the unfinished task of creating a better city in line with Park's philosophy.

Park's daughter Da-in also spoke and asked the citizens of Seoul to keep the city happy and safe as her father would have wanted.

The late mayor was laid to rest in his hometown of Changnyeong, South Gyeongsang Province.
