A notice of temporary closure is posted on a gate outside the Sarang Jeil Church in Seoul, on August 14, 2020, where a cluster of coronavirus infections emerged involving at least 19 patients.
Health authorities shut down a church in Seoul's Seongbuk District on Friday after it was linked to more than a dozen cases of COVID-19.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, at least 19 people were confirmed to have contracted virus from a cluster of infections that emerged from Sarang Jeil Church.
Eleven of these patients reside in the capital.
The first case from this church was reported on Wednesday.
Officials are trying to track down people the patients might have come into contact with.
Seoul city's quarantine control officer Park Yoo-mi said nearly 1,900 people are subject to diagnostic testing in relation to this cluster.
Park also expressed serious concern over the virus spreading further as the church's congregation is spread out across the country.
