Snow advisories have been issued for Seoul and northern Gyeonggi Province.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said Thursday that heavy snow is forecast to blanket areas in the capital region starting from around 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The snowfall could last for about two hours, accompanied by strong winds.
Authorities earlier issued alerts recommending motorists to use caution as snow or sleet could cause low visibility or lead to icy road conditions.
After the snow, temperatures are expected to drop below the freezing point.
The chilly weather will intensify on Friday with lows dipping to minus 13 degrees Celsius in the capital.
