Three students attending universities in Seoul have been confirmed to be infected with Omicron, officials said Tuesday.
The cases, which signal the new variant's penetration into the capital, involves one foreign student each from Seoul National University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and Kyunghee University.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said all three people were found to have visited a church in Incheon, where a pastor and his wife were confirmed last week as the first cases of Omicron in South Korea.
The students tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday.
All the affected universities are conducting contact tracing and testing related to the infected students and mapping out quarantine measures amid the possibility of secondary infections.
