The Seoul Metropolitan Government has decided to reduce late night subway operations in the capital as part of tough coronavirus social distancing rules.
From Friday, Christmas Eve, subways will run on a 20 percent reduced schedule after 10 p.m.
City and neighborhood buses already introduced the measures over the weekend.
The move is likely in line with the curfew for multiuse facilities - 9 p.m. for restaurants, bars, cafes and gyms and 10 p.m. for movie theaters and PC rooms.
Similar measures were put into place in July at the start of the fourth wave of infections and lifted in October ahead of the government's implementation of its so-called living with COVID-19 strategy, which has been put on hold.
