Seoul city plans to give monthly allowances of 200,000 won to youths who have dropped out of school.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced today a policy to give between 200 to 500 youths who have left school a basic allowance to help further their education, starting next year.
Officials said the funds can be used to buy educational materials, enroll in an academy or participate in cultural experiences.
They will establish eligibility requirements in December, but have said that a youth's reasons for leaving school or their parents' income will not be deciding factors.■
