A fire in New York City has left at least 19 people dead, including nine children.
Mayor Eric Adams said the apartment fire on Sunday was a horrific moment for the city.
Authorities said the blaze appeared to have been started by a malfunctioning electric heater.

People have been on social media talking about how they tried to escape with their children, with their animals.
One woman spoke to one American media outlet saying that she saw people from her childhood dying.
She saw women crying, losing their children.

This fire had broken out on a particular floor in a particular apartment.
It engulfed two floors but then the smoke had just sort of extended through the entire building of this high-rise block, causing that devastation.
