A rescue operation is under way in Pakistan after a train collision in the south of the country.

At least 30 people were killed and dozens were injured.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has promised a full inquiry.

The BBC's Secunder Kermani reports.

Unfortunately, accidents on Pakistan's railways are quite common and there has been criticism of the current government, of previous governments, for not doing enough to improve safety on the railways.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said he was shocked by this incident and he says he's ordering a comprehensive investigation into safety on the railways.

There, I imagine, will be a lot of criticism that more has not been done by his government and by others in the past already.
