President Moon Jae-in received his second shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday.

The president was originally expected to get his second dose in mid-May, considering the locally recommended dosing interval of 12 weeks for the AZ vaccine.

But the schedule was moved up after his in-person summit with U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington was set for May 21.

Moon received his first shot on March 23 in preparation of his attendance at the G7 summit to be held in Britain from June 11.

First Lady Kim Jung-sook and seven presidential secretaries also received their second dose.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency allows a four-week interval for the AstraZeneca vaccine in cases that are urgent and foreign travel is inevitable.
