• Moon Revives Calls For Truth Behind Brutal 1980 Crackdown In Gwangju
President Moon Jae-in has called on officials to uncover the truth behind the brutal crackdown on the 1980 pro-democracy uprising in Gwangju to recover the honor of victims.

Commemorating 41 years since the May 18 Democratization Movement, Moon wrote on his social media that the country is "coming close to the truth of Gwangju" thanks to the "courageous" testimonies given by some of those who were involved.

Hundreds of citizens protesting for democracy were killed or injured during the movement under the authoritarian regime of Chun Doo-hwan.

Moon also expressed his sympathy for people in Myanmar.

Moons said, "We are seeing yesterday's Gwangju in today's Myanmar," referring to the military junta's violence against anti-coup protesters.
