South Korea's women's national football team fell to China 1-2 Thursday in the first of two qualifiers for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
China broke a 1-1 tie with a 73rd-minute penalty by Wang Shuang at Goyang Stadium, northwest of Seoul.
China will host the second leg next Tuesday in the city of Suzhou.
The Korean team, dubbed the Taeguk Ladies, have never qualified for the Olympics.
The aggregate score from these meetings will determine who will grab the last Asian ticket to the Summer Games.
