The COVID-19 fatality rate in South Korea dropped sharply in the past two months, according to the National Medical Center Monday, as the vaccination campaign continues.
The mortality rate from March 1 to May 1 stood at 0.69 percent, nearly half of the overall rate of 1.49 percent.
Experts attributed the drop to more elderly being inoculated.
By age, the rate among those in their 80s over the cited period was 10 percent, compared with the overall rate of 18.8 percent for the age group.
