Busan's Haeundae District Office warned on Wednesday that U.S. service members stationed in South Korea will be fined if they hold mask-less parties at a local beach to celebrate the Fourth of July.

The district said it will intensify monitoring and crack down on unruly behavior at Haeundae Beach, together with local and U.S. Army Military Police, from July 2-4.

Local authorities have decided to maintain the ban on gatherings of five or more people for those three days at the beach to prevent overcrowding, despite the planned easing of limits on private gatherings starting in July.

The announcement was made as part of proactive measures to deter rowdy behavior by U.S. Forces Korea personnel, following such incidents at the beach in recent years.

One American soldier was fined last year for shooting firecrackers toward people.
